I am a writer, English teacher and traveller between cultures. In my books, memory, imagination and the magic of worlds that can be dreamed of come together.
I was born on 22 May 1972 in the countryside of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, into a large, modest and deeply close-knit family. I am the fifth of seven siblings and grew up surrounded by the sound of the radio, the scents of the countryside and stories that blended roots, myths and reality. As the son of a Brazilian mother and a Greek father, I learned from a very early age to live between cultures, intense emotions and different ways of seeing the world.
From an early age, I felt that repeated numbers followed me like magical signs, and the number 22 went from being a simple coincidence to becoming an essential part of my identity.
My mother, a woman with a kind heart and an altruistic soul, was my first great example of quiet strength. From her, I learned that even when we have little, it is always possible to help, welcome and transform someone else’s life. That lesson in empathy remains with me to this day, both within and beyond the pages I write.
Another fundamental figure in my upbringing was my grandmother Evilázia, a strong and sincere woman who taught me the values of respect, responsibility and dignity. Thanks to her, I understood that firmness can go hand in hand with tenderness and that education is a silent legacy capable of shaping character.
My siblings are my refuge, my constant source of inspiration and the best friends life has given me. With them, I share memories, lessons and a bond of brotherhood that withstands both time and distance.
My father, an enigmatic man full of adventures, would appear like a wandering magician, bringing with him fascinating stories as well as conflict. That almost mythical presence, combined with my mother’s strength, my grandmother’s wisdom and the love of my siblings, awakened in me a powerful imagination and a sensitivity towards everything that cannot always be seen.
At the age of 14, I became legally independent and began working alongside my siblings as a lettering artist and illustrator. Later, my passion for cultures and languages took me to London, where I lived for two years, deepened my study of English and came into direct contact with people from many different nationalities and cultures. After that experience, I returned to Brazil and founded an English language school in Peruíbe, on the coast of São Paulo, where I prepared students for official University of Cambridge examinations.
My professional journey continued through languages, travel and teaching, later taking me to Ireland and, eventually, to Dénia in Spain, where I now live and work as an English teacher and official examiner for international qualifications.
I have always been a private, observant and imaginative person. In writing, I found the ideal space to transform experiences, silences, memories and dreams into stories capable of moving and inspiring others.
The Magical World of Borealia marks my debut as an author. It is a modern fable about the value of belonging, the strength to keep moving forward and the magic that exists even when it seems that no hope remains.
The Path of the Tulips is the first book in a fantasy trilogy that invites readers to cross the thresholds into parallel worlds, where imagination is as powerful as reality and where every reader may find a reflection of their own inner light.
